QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS FROM AN IRA

Are you 70 ½ years old and have an IRA? Are you subject to the dreaded Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)?

If you are not subject to RMDs yet, let us help you turn your IRA withdrawals into tax-free Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs). Qualified individuals may transfer up to $100,00 to charity tax-free each year. Normally, distributions from a traditional IRA are taxable when received. With a QCD, however, these distributions become tax-free as long as they are paid directly from the IRA trustee (for example, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, Vanguard, Charles Schwab, etc.) to CYCF. The QCD option is available regardless of whether you itemize deductions.

BEQUESTS, ESTATES, and PLANNED GIVING

A bequest is a gift from your estate— a transfer of cash, securities, or other property made through your estate plans. You can make a bequest to the CYCF by including language in your will or living trust that leaves a portion of your estate to the Foundation, or by designating the CYCF as a beneficiary of your retirement account or life insurance policy. Remembering the CYCF with a bequest from your estate will help sustain and strengthen the organization in years to come.

MATCHING GIFTS

Corporate financial matching programs may double—or even triple—a personal donation to the CYC Foundation. Ask your employer about its specific requirements and ways to use its matching program. Many companies also match gifts made by spouses of employees and those retired from the company.
